Rumiñahui Spanish School

City:

Quito

Description:

The Rumiñahui Spanish School is located in the “Old Town” of Quito. The school was founded in April of 2002, to work closely with foreigners to provide them with the best service possible to help them as individuals to learn Spanish. The school is very focused on working with individuals people in the manner that best suits them, as opposed to a “one size fits all” approach where all students are taught in the same style regardless of their personal preferences, personalities, learning styles, etc.

Their teaching style is to work with students as much as possible to create an instruction regimen that best meets the students learning style and personal goals. They try to simplify the daunting task of learning an entire language by making the learning process as goal oriented as possible.

I studied at this school for

I studied at this school for three weeks, and was very disappointed in the quality of teaching. The school, which is held in the house of a private home, is run by two sisters. My teacher was Rocio and was self admittedly uninformed of advanced Spanish grammer. I found the teaching to be lacking and unfocused. Often times Rocio would use much, if not all, of the class time to speak of personal issues.

I was in a class with one other person and he also felt equal dissatisfaction. I left the school to study elsewhere (as I was seeking to be fluent in efforts to be a translator). I was not refunded the money I paid in advance for the remaining time that I had paid for but had not attended class.

There are many schools in Quito, and I would not recommend this one at all.
